At the Forrester Forum 2010: Max Pucher promises to discuss “the future of process management that is goal-oriented and focused on customer outcomes rather than a rigid flow paradigm.” Max was a contributor to the Mastering the Unpredictable book, so I was interested in finally getting his 30 minute focus on goal orientation. Case Management Mentor Meeting
The “Adaptive Case Management Mentor Camp” has just been announced. This will be a meeting of minds for people interested in learning effective techniques for using case management for knowledge work. It is right after the BPM 2010 conference, at the same venue, symbolically representing ACM as the next thing after BPM. Continue reading
What if customers ran the process?
Another question from Peter Schoop: “Is the Customer the Boss With Social BPM?” reflecting on the blog post by Doug Mow on “Is the Customer the Boss the Age of Social BPM?” I thought I would take this to the logical extreme: what if customers ran the processes instead of the vendors? So it is going to take me three posts to get this all in. Here is part 1. Continue reading
Adaptive = Designed For Change
Back from Japan, recovering over the long weekend, starting to feel human again…..

John Mettraux (Processi) pulled off an amazing feat getting Japanese BPM enthusiasts to show up at an Italian bistro, braving certain language challenges, for a bit of discussion about Adaptive Case Management. A few people from Oracle, Fujitsu, The Japan BPM Association, and a number of independent BPM consultants with an eye toward tracking the future. Continue reading
Improvising Processes
A post on a Japanese site about ACM got me think again about what it means to handle unpredictable situations.
In Jazz and other genres of music, there is a tradition of improvisation. That means, there is a section of the piece, where a particular musician is expected to improvise a solo. Continue reading
The word for 3/31 is “adaptive”
Too many good topics today, so many mention and discuss “adaptive”, but not enough time to write more than a few words on each: Continue reading
After BPM, what is next?
Next Wednesday, March 3rd, we will be giving a webinar on Adaptive Case Management. I have mentioned this subject a couple of times in recent posts, as new technology area. Advancements have provided ways to support increasingly sophisticated types of work. Initially, very simple work tasks with productivity software, advancing to more sophisticated work processes with workflow and BPM, but never before has there been wide adoption of of technology to support Knowledge Work.
